Storyline: Old 777, the steam locomotive, arrives at the mine. Rescuers bring out a flexible hose from the old Corliss steam-powered electric power plant and connect it to the steam engine. Power is restored to the mine, which will allow rescue operations to begin. Being a reporter, Chuck gets all the details of the mine accident and a list of the names of the trapped men. Mr. Borden is reminded that the miners will be saved thanks to old 777 arriving in time. He thinks he knows how to show his thanks...

The Origin of Chess

Storyline: The history of chess, starting from terra cotta pieces discovered in Mesopotamia that are 6,000 years old. Tells how the pieces themselves have changed over the years. For example, chariots were not used in European armies, so they became castle turrets. The Indian word for chariot is "ratha", or "roka" and it became and is still known as a rook.

Storyline: The story of Johnny Longden. At the time this story was written, he was the world's top jockey with 6,000 wins.

Storyline: Hitler's soldiers march into Russia and are greeted by many Russians. Anyone siding with the Germans is sent to Siberia. Stalin appeals to Russians to be patriotic and plays down the aspect of communism. He tells the Allies that the Comintern has been disbanded, so that they will send military supplies to Russia. Stalin promises to encourage democratic rule in eastern Europe and breaks his promise. Stalin dies in 1953 and it is rumored that Kruschev and others had poisoned him with Warfarin to make it look like he suffered a stroke. Only those closest to him know the truth.

Storyline: Reporters show up to interview Uncle Harry about the progress on the new construction. The reporters play up the angle that the new park will have a gorilla, but later in the day, a cablegram arrives saying that the gorilla escaped and they won't be getting one. Mr. Sharp goes out and purchases his own gorilla, which he bills as King Kongo. Cousin Fud bursts in the room to tell everyone that there's a woman at the door carrying a baby and was told to deliver it to Uncle Harry.
