Storyline

Vera waves to a train that passes by her farm each day, and the engineer waves back. She fantasizes that he’s young and handsome. One day Vera asks her friend Connie to wave since she’ll be away, and that’s the day that Jim, the engineer, took the day off and came to see who was waving. He thinks Connie is his faithful greeter, but quickly figures out Vera is the one, and they fall in love. However, Vera refuses to leave her farm, and Jim wants to live in the city. After Vera prevents a dangerous train derailment, she and Jim agree to split their time between the city and country.

Storyline

Linda has a new hat.

Storyline

Sharon refuses to get involved with Philip because her previous romance with Tom ended badly. Philip won’t give up, and she decides to leave town. However, a distracted Sharon wanders into the street and Philip has to wreck his car to avoid her. This makes Sharon realise she does love him.

Storyline

Doris goes on a blind date with college student Craig, although she works in a florist shop and feels a bit inferior. They fall in love and Craig invites her to his school’s winter festival. Doris goes, nervously, but everyone is friendly except Aline, Craig’s snobbish ex-girlfriend. Doris saves Aline from injury on the ski slopes and that night Aline nominates her to be Snow Queen. Craig and Aline kiss.

Storyline

Jane is irked when her longtime boss Mr. Drake hires Doug as the new store manager instead of giving her the promotion. She swallows her pride and does a good job as Doug’s assistant, and they fall in love. However, Paula arrives and informs Jane that she’s going to marry Doug. Mr. Drake tells Jane he didn’t promote her because he felt the job was consuming her whole life. When a fire breaks out, Doug goes back into the burning building to save Jane, proving he loves her, not Paula.

Storyline

Shan and Bill go on a blind date and fall in love, but she loves living in the city and he hates it. They argue and when Shan later tries to call Bill, she learns he’s moved away. Another young woman tells her that she had an argument with her boyfriend then realised love was more important than pride. Shan tracks down Bill at a farm he’s purchased and they reconcile.
