River Rescue

Storyline: Worker William Hanley spots a 10-year-old pupil at Quinsigamond School falling into the water and going under, so he dives into the water and saves the boy's life.

Storyline: Getting ready to retire for the night, Harry Bolland of Orange, New Jersey, hears a car plow throgh a gate and into a lake in a nearby park, and dashes out, jumps in and rescues the people inside.

Courage Cheats the Smoke

Storyline: Late one afternoon a fire breaks out in the three-story Ellis home. Young James runs out to safety, but his brother John is still inside. With remarkable courage, the mother of the trapped boy rushes in to save her son.

Storyline: Rookie Patrolman Powers, on leave with a serious back injury, comes upon the robbery in progress, and, with risk to life and limb, pursues the crook and brings him to justice, for which he received the News Hero of the Month Award and was received before the New York City Police Department Honor Board.

Storyline: Lt. Fairall is alerted by fellow firemen that three young boys are trapped on a sandbar beneath a bridge and face certain death. Fairall leads the attempt to rescue the lads and is awarded the Silver Medal for his actions.

Storyline: With his pal going down a second time, Eddie Easton dives into a large gravel-pit pool to rescue a friend of his, who is then given artificial resuscitation by a passer-by.

Storyline: Mailman Long spots a drowning man beneath Howard Bridge in Charleston, Massachusetts, and throws him a life preserver. When the man refuses to take hold of it, Long jumps in and rescues him. For his effort, mailman Long receives medals and awards.

Storyline: Troop No. 30 Intermediate Girl Scout Bailey was recommended for the award of the Silver Cross for Lifesaving when she saved the life of an 11-year-old girl whose dress had caught fire.

Storyline: Steeplejack Kemp, working on a chimney, suddenly has his scaffold break from under him, and he desperately swings to a ledge for safety. However, he has no way down nor do his rescuers have any way up to him. One attempt was made by an airplane, but, when that fails, the Coast Guard was called in, and they succeed in the rescie by use of a rocket gun.

Lucky Hunch

Storyline: Francis cuts short a trip to see his aged mother. As he rushes home to find his home engulfed in smoke and flame. He crashes through a window, awakens his wife and friend, rescuing them, and then must re-enter to save the life of his daughter.

Storyline: The quick thinking and wits of Boy Scout Emile Berube saves the lives of two drowning boys.

Storyline: Mrs. Leonard displays exceptional courage and presence of mind when she rescues her two young sons, who, left alone in an upstairs playroom, find a box of matches and accidently cause a fire.

A Present for Mother

Storyline: After his mother puts young Tommy to bed, Eugene Grimes checks on how his half-brother is doing in his Mom's bedroom, and discovers that Tommy has fallen through a floor, only held safely by the boy's shoelace.

Night of Terror

Storyline: A young woman, out with her boyfriend on evening around midnight, suddenly leaves the car and boyfriend, and decides to take a walk along a sheer cliff. Her footing gives way, and she falls down the side of the cliff until she gets a handhold. When the police arrive, they call in two lifeguards, who help to rescue the girl before she falls to her death.

Storyline: The lives of 14 members of the Henrietta, Missouri boys basketball team are saved from certain death by the actions of bus driver Pete Summers, when the bus they all are riding in has issues with ice and snow.
