Human Torch

Storyline: The neighbor of Mrs. Borgstrom was cooking in her kitchen one day when the range she was next to caught her dress on fire, literally making her a human torch. As she sdashed out of her house, her aged neighbor had the presence of mind to put out the fire and take her to the hospital for treatment.

When Playmates Are Helpmates

Storyline: As Bobby, Janet and Angela are throwing rocks and planks into a nearby 4' deep excavation pit, Bobby loses his balance and falls in. The girls save his life and are later awrded, by the Chicago Candy Company, certificates of bravery and boxes of candy.

Tragedy on Jamaica Bay

Storyline: Split-secong thinking by 12-year-old Donald Henglein helps save the life of two men whose motorboar overturns into the choppy waters of Jamaica Bay.

Calm during the Storm

Storyline: A freak electrical storm's lightning causes a fire in a room of an old farmhouse, occupied only by three children. Beverly bravely dresses her sister and sends her brother to get their grandfather.

Double Reward

Storyline: Theodore and Jean are baby-sitting when the house they are in fills with smoke, but the quick actions of the pair saves one of their charges, Margo, from certain death, while the firemen called to the scene save Randy. For their efforts, Teddy and Jean receive gold medals, citations and a $100 bonds which comprise the National Popsicle Youth Awards for Heroism.

Good Neighbors

Storyline: The baby of the neighbor of the Wing's goes into convulsions, and the mother rushes him to the Wing's door. Lila, a Girl Scout, performs artificial respiration until the fire department arrives, thus saving the baby's life.

Danger in Shallow Water

Storyline: Janet fall into the water from an over-turned boat and begins to drown. However, the quick thinking of Girl Scout Sharon saves her life.

Operation Sandbar

Storyline: Albert and Bill row their boat out into Jamacia Bay, but rough waters cause the water craft to overturn. Floyd Bennett Field pilot Fraser spots them and sees that they are rescued.

Lifesaving Neighbor

Storyline: Ed Walker looks out his window to see the neighboring house on fire and rushes out to save the kids inside from the flames.

Snake Bite

Storyline: Three boys, taking a hike together, and ribbing each other about snakes in the woods, watch as one of their number, Harvey, is bitten by a snake. Havey is carried a half-mile through the woods, where a man helps treat Harvey, aided by Macky and Herman. Their quick actions save the boy's life.

Cheating Death on Wheels

Storyline: Michael and Charles help save the life of a young school boy when the lad leaps out into the snowy, icy street in front of a car. Both boys were awarded the School Safety Patrol Honor Medal by the mayor of the city.

The Mameluke Sword

Storyline: The story of an African ruler's gratitude and how U.S. Marine Corps Officers came to carry the Mameluke Sword.

River Rescue

Storyline: Raymond is at the wharf, crabbing, when he hears a cry and spots a five year old girl struggling in the water. He pulls her out, then runs to get his mother, who performs artificial respiration on the little one.

Runaway

Storyline: Young Nancy sees a 3-year-old friend on a tricycle ride into the street, directly in the path of a truck, which has lost its brakes. Nancy rushes into the street and pulls the boy to safety, just in time.

A Dog's Life

Storyline: While strolling near the treacherous "Valley of the Rocks," young Morgan spots a dog trapped on a rock in the middle of a river, shivering with fright. Without any concern for his own safety, Richard dives into the frigid water and makes for the rock, where he nearly drowns until two men pull him and the dog to safety. For his efforts, Richard was awarded the S.P.C.A. Humanity Medal and the Certificate of Merit.

Newsboy Hero

Storyline: Young newsboy Caputo saves the life of a Marine Corps veteran who has been overcome by gas, but unfortunately has perished. Yet the lad was given the title of "Newsboy of the Year" and also received the Distinguished Junior Citizenship Citation of the Inter-State Circulation Managers Association.

Heroic Sea Scout

Storyline: 17-year-old McGuire risks life and limb by jumping into the Delaware River fully clothed to rescue an unknown drowning boy. For his efforts, he was named Boy Scout of the Month and chosen as the outstanding youth in the Philadelphia area by baseball great, Bob Feller.

Beyond Her Depth

Storyline: Little Faith wanders off the deck of the family boathouse "to see the fishes" and begins to drown. Quick-thinking Patricia jumps in and rescues her sister, and receives a medal from the American Legion, Public Safety Post.

The Tea Towel Tourniquet

Storyline: Rita is faithfully drying dishes for here mother when she hears something, and finds that her 3-year-old brother has fallen down the steps in the home, cutting his ankle rather badly. She applies a tourniquet, as she had been taught to do in her 1st Aid class at school, saving Leonard's life. She was awarded a special commendation by the American Legion Commander for her heroic actions.

Rescue from Mud

Storyline: Young Phil, dressed in his new boots, walks right into a muddy quagmire and is slowly sinking. Dolores uses a series of planks to reach out to Phil, and the young boy grabs hold and is rescued.

Trapeze Wire Rescue

Storyline: As he preparing himself for bed, former track star Harold Yafee hears a distress cry and sees a 5-year-old girl hanging out of her bedroom window, clutching onto a screen. He performs some amazing stunts to reach and save the little girl.

Mid-Air Rescue

Storyline: A Navy seaman from Brooklyn spies a small boy playing precariously playing on the window ledge on the 3rd Floor, when the boy falls. Racing underneath the falling boy, he reaches out, grabs the boy in his arms, thus saving him.

Modest Hero!

Storyline: Bob and his little friend were playing ball by a pond wjhen one of them tossed the ball into the water. Bob's friend dove in after it and began to drown. Bob jumped in and rescued the lad.
