Hero at 77

Storyline: The Fassett's are marveling at the wonders of the Great Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, when Mr. Fassett notices the car starting to roll toward a cliff having a 2000' drop. Since his wife cannot drive and doesn't know how to stop the car, Alfonzo throws his own body under the wheels to impede the forward motion, and a passing couple help rescue the man from under the car.

Storyline: Three young paperboys are stopped and asked if they have seen an 18-year-old girl walking around in a daze. They immediately go on the lookout for her and finally spot her attempting to jump off a bridge into the water. They prevent this and people show up to return her to the facility she walked away from.

Storyline: Joseph and Patrick go sledding after school when their friend Richard's sled heads out over an icy lake and breaks through. Only the quick wits and actions of the two save Richard's life.

Storyline: A young married couple, relaxing at home, hear a crash outside and discover an automobile wreck. They check out the physical condition of each of the drivers and find that one is seriously injured. They administer first aid to this man until medical help arrives, and are informed by one of the medical personnel that it was their prompt action that saved the life of this driver.

Boy Scout Skill Saves Schoolboy

Storyline: Richard and Dale, two Boy Scouts, use their live-saving skills to rescue a boy who has fallen through the ice. The two do not want recognition for what they did, but a little girl, who witnessed the event, notifies the school authorities of the deed.

Salute to an Old Sailor

Storyline: In January of 1929, Captain Fried received an SOS from the Italian freighter "Florida", which was in serious difficulty at sea and some 300 miles from the Captain's vessel. Still, the U.S.S. America reached the struggling vessel in time and rescued all 32 crew members successfully.

A Credit to His School to His Scouts to His Race

Storyline: Cornel R. Davis, an African-American student and Boy Scout at Booker T. Washington School jumps into the water to save a young boy from drowning and performs artificial respiration on him until medical help arrives. As a fitting reward for his selfless act, the citizens of Ashland, Kentucky agree to raise money so the young man can attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Washington.

Soldier Saviour

Storyline: 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment swimmer, Corporal Ralph Phillips, helps to save the life of a woman who has been trapped underwater in the family car.

Storyline: Officer Minnick spots a man drowning in a river, and dives in after him after the man had gone down for a third time. He pulls the unbreathing man out of the water and administers artificial respiration on him until medical help arrives, thus saving his life.

Marine Turned Cop

Storyline: Former professional hockey player and boxer and Marine Corps veteran, now is an off-duty Chicago Policemen who spots a women hanging from a closed window near the top of a building. Using his amazing physical ability, he helps to save the woman, an action that contributes to his future ambition to become a criminal investigator.

Buzzy Buzzes Police

Storyline: Little 4-year-old Buzzy is watching his infant brother sleep, when the baby suddenly wakes up and turns blue. He calls his mother, who sees this predictament and promptly faints. Buzzy has the presence of mind to phone for his Uncle Carl on the Police force, and other Policemen respond to the call and help save the child's life.

For Saving a Life

Storyline: A little boy, without a care in the world, runs after a duck, and falls into the lake. W. Henry Wilkerson and his friends spot this dilemma, and Henry jumps in to save the child's life. As a result, he is awarded a Life-Saving Medal for Heroism by the Laurel, Delaware Lions Club.

Listen to Your Parents

Storyline: Jimmy and Edward are told by their mother that, after seeing a film downtown, they are to take the bus back home. However, they disregard their mother's advice and take a short cut home, resulting in little Edward falling through the ice in a lake and nearly drowning.

Storyline: The wiring on a decorative Christmas wreath causes a fire one night and 7-year-old Sylvia, alerted by the smoke, awakens her mother and father, plus her young brother and sister, and aids in their escaping the flaming inferno which destroys the home.

Double Trouble

Storyline: Johnny and Barbara are out one cold winter's day, when Barbara falls through the ice on a pond. Johnny rescues her and builds a fire to dry both of them out. Unfortunately, Barbara's coat catches fire, and Johnny helps put out the fire, calls the fire department to deal with the brush fire that has started, and both are returned home after being treated for burns and exposure to the cold weather.

Fatal Fire Foiled

Storyline: While Nancy and her mother ride home in Manchester, New Hampshire after Nancy's roller skating lesson, they spot a burning house. Nacy leaps from the car, enters a store and phones the fire department, and, with her mother, watch the fire officials rescue all the people inside.

Storyline: Twelve-year-old Billy O'Farrell saves the life of a two-year-old child, who has fallen into icy waters and is in danger of drowning. Later in his life, Billy, now a military soldier, receives the American Legion Medal of Valor as the outstanding hero of Malden in 1949.

Storyline: While working out in the yard one day, Leo Rovin hears the cries of his three children, who are trapped in their burning home. He rushes in and saves them, suffering from severe burns to his face in doing so.

Storyline: On his way home from school, Dwain makes his usual stop at the pet store to see the puppies. Suddenly, when one of the dogs makes a break from the store into the crowded street, Dwain dashes into the street and saves the pup from certain death beneath the wheels of automobiles.

Storyline: Eastern Color's foreword text reads: "Heroic Hall of Honor: Men and women chosen by this publication for their daring actions in hazardous tasks", and the names of 28 people can be found listed whose stories are told in the stories that follow.
