A physicist invents a "teaching machine"—a small box that "spurts knowledge from an ionized core into the student's mental muscles." He asks Scrooge for his financial assistance, but the Brutopian consul steals the machine and uses it to command both Scrooge and the scientist to go to the Dismal Swamp, then commands Donald to go to the swamp, too. The nephews take him there in the Junior Woodchuck's helicopter, but it sinks in the quicksand before they can leave.
