Story Featuring Godzilla

"Godzilla has just completed a mind-warping trip through time and size."

Storyline

Godzilla appears in Times Square disoriented after his trip through time. S.H.I.E.L.D. goads him into following the Behemoth to lure him away from the city. The Fantastic Four get involved but realize that more help is needed. The Torch goes to Avengers Mansion and asks the Avengers to help. A huge battle ensues to get Godzilla to the sea but he won't leave. Yellowjacket and The Wasp enter Godzilla's ear and distort his equilibrium causing him to fall into the Hudson. Just when it seems that the heroes succeed, Godzilla rises from the water more enraged than ever.

When Godzilla is in Times Square a marquee for Jaws 2 is seen in the background. Jaws 2 was a big event movie for 1978 and its influence can be seen in these latter issues, especially in #20 and #21 where Godzilla is knocked into a tank of Great white sharks. In one sequence, Godzilla approaches the Daily Bugle building and is verbally berated by J. Jonah Jameson. Godzilla dispatches him with a blast of hot wind.

(This will ultimately turn out to be Epic Illustrated (Marvel, 1980 series.))
