Featuring
Barney Bear with Fuzzy and Wuzzy
"Where are you going, Uncle Barney?"
Storyline
Barney goes fishing in a pond but restricts Fuzzy and Wuzzy to a nearby shed, fearing that the boys will catch more fish than he will. Fuzzy and Wuzzy finds ways to cast their line (with a bent pin for a hook) and still catch more fish than their hapless uncle - without leaving the confines of the shed.
Story Notes
GOOD RUNNING GAG:
Barney expresses bemused frustration over the boys' uncanny ability to catch more fish than he:
BARNEY: "For some reason, fish would rather be caught by boys with bent pins than by expert fisherman like me!" ...And Barney is proved right by the thoughts and actions of various fish.
FIRST FISH (looks at Barney's fancy fishing gear): "I don't like the looks of that hook!"
FIRST FISH (then looks at Fuzzy and Wuzzy's line): "A bent pin! Oh, yummy!"
SECOND FISH (looks at Fuzzy and Wuzzy's line): "A bent pin! (Drool!)"
Barney yanks Fuzzy and Wuzzy's line out of the water, just as a third fish is about to bite:
THIRD FISH: "Aw, shucks!"
This running gag is all the more bizarre because, while Barney has a fat, juicy worm at the end of his line and hook, Fuzzy and Wuzzy just have a bent pin with nothing more to entice the fish.
