Absolute-ly Lovely

These Absolute Martian Manhunter covers are blowing our minds, and the follow on the amazingly well-crafted Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman. The new Absolute Doom Patrol books are starting to trickle out, and they are paying the best homage to the camp and high Science Fiction that made the original series a staple of DC's Silver Age lineup.

Jim Lee is guiding DC Comics in such great directions right now, and we couldn't be happier. Watching the way that Absolute Batman has reinvigorated the Batman titles, the way that Absolute Wonder Woman has reinvented the mythology behind Wonder Woman, and now, the way that the Javier Rodriguez is drawing Absolute Martian Manhunter is taking these classic heroes to a level of Pop Art that I just haven't seen in a long time.

And they are great reads- real plot, real character development, and just plain exciting to pick up. The cover variants are actually worth grabbing up on these, and no one is playing the cover variant game as well as DC Comics is right now. Just look at the Absolute Batman #1 prices, and you can see that the market is eating up this story and its variants without any movie rumors in the works. These books are collectible for the art, collectible for the readability, and collectible for the treasure-trove of variant covers that don't seem to miss. Absolutley lovely, and absolutley worth the pick-up.
