Appearances of Starman

Will Payton first appeared as Starman in Starman (DC, 1988 series) #1 (October 1988). He was killed by Eclipso in Eclipso: The Darkness Within (DC, 1992 series) #2 (October 1992). He was shown to be alive in Starman (DC, 1994 series) #3 (January 1995). It was revealed in Starman (DC, 1994 series) #57 (September 1999) that Will Payton and Prince Gavyn (Starman) share the same soul. In Starman (DC, 1994 series) #58 (October 1999), Will Payton is transformed into Gavyn. In Starman (DC, 1994 series) #59 (November 1999), it was explained that when Will Payton originally became Starman, he actually died and Gavyn's soul took over his dead body. After "Will Payton" was killed by Eclipso, Gavyn's soul returned home and reconstituted a new body resembling Will.
