This version of Tommy Tomorrow first appeared in Real Fact Comics (DC, 1946 series) #16 (September-October 1948). The Tommy Tomorrow feature then continued in Action Comics (DC, 1938 series) #127 (December 1948).
The first three Tommy Tomorrow adventures in Real Fact Comics #6, #8, and #13 are prototype stories. That version is different from the one described in this character record.
At first, Tommy's adventures were shown to occur exactly 40 years in the future. This was changed to 100 years in the future beginning in Action Comics (DC, 1938 series) #149 (October 1950).
It was revealed in Action Comics (DC, 1938 series) #255 (August 1959) that Tommy was adopted. It was inferred in Crisis on Infinite Earths (DC, 1985 series) #12 (March 1986) that he was born Thomas Blank, the paternal grandson of Buddy Blank (a.k.a. OMAC).
In most of his stories, Tommy Tomorrow was a Colonel in the Planeteers. His adventures in Showcase (DC, 1956 series) took place much earlier in his career. He became a Lieutenant in issue #41 (November-December 1962), a Captain in issue #42 (January-February 1963), and a Major in issue #47 (November-December 1963).
The New 52 version of this character, T'om T'morra, first appeared in Threshold (DC, 2013 series) #2 (April 2013); he was first mentioned in issue #1 (March 2013).
