Blackhawk's brother, Jack, first appeared and died in Military Comics (Quality Comics, 1941 Series) #1 (August 1941). However, Jack's history was radically changed in Blackhawk (DC, 1957 series) #242 (August-September 1968). In this version, he was named Jack Hawk, but used the alias "Dawson" when he lied about his age to join the Air Force. He crashed while flying a drone on a mission with his brother Bart (later Blackhawk). Jack was believed to have been killed, but survived and returned years later as Black Mask.
