Storyline
As the Joe team is freeing Snake-Eyes from the Commander's trap, a call is made to Joe in New York to fire a laser to stop the Cobra forces in hot pursuit, which succeeds. In Borovia, Zartan, disguised as Wolfgang, plants a bomb killing President Metz, setting up Wolfgang as that country's liberator. Roadblock and Tunnel Rat later appear to Joe with drafting papers, reactivating him to full status as a true G.I. Joe.
Story Notes
This story left this major story plot of the brainwashed trio (Baroness, Billy, and Storm Shadow),as well as the happenings in Wolkekuckuckland and Borovia open, since the book was cancelled as of issue 155, with fill-in stories in issue #152 (Marvel, 1982 series) (origin of G.I Joe), #153 (Marvel, 1982 series), #154 (Marvel, 1982 series), and #155 (Marvel, 1982 series) being the final issue covering another story plot altogether.
The next time this plot was opened, it was during the 'Disavowed' G.I. Joe series done by Devil's Due Productions under the Image banner, and later their own banner, in which Billy and Storm Shadow broke free of their mind control from Dr. Venom's Brainwave Scanner,as well as the Baroness, not written by Larry Hama.
This same plotline was also reopened when IDW comics received the G.I. Joe publishing license from Hasbro, in which Larry Hama continued his series from the end of his run at Marvel Comics (Marvel, 1982 series) from 1982-1995 in mid-2010 (IDW, 2010 series), with Storm Shadow freeing himself from the scanner's influence, but Billy and Baroness still under its control.
