"Shah Mat!" The King Is Dead!
Story featuring Arak, Son of Thunder
Storyline: Alsind is near death, but Arak manages to use his shaman magic to cure the boy. But, a recovered Alsind then attacks the Caliph, naming him a usurper. In a rage, Harun orders that a game of shatranj (a variant of chess) be played...with living pieces! On one side, played by Sharizad, Arak stands with his friends. On the other side, the Caliph's guardsmen. Sharizad manages to defeat Harun (after a few savage battles by her "pieces") and agrees to marry him. Alsind now realizes that he will never be Caliph, and he volunteers to accompany Arak on the quest for Arak's homeland.
