Story Notes

Boy Commandos figures taken from the cover of Boy Commandos (DC, 1942 series) #1 (Winter 1942-1943). Other figures may be stats taken from interior stories. A previous indexer credited Dick Sprang on the Batman and Robin figures. The Batman and Robin figures are from Ed Kressy, an early collaborator of Dick Sprang. Sprang verified the Batman and Robin figure credits with Craig Delich at a convention in Kansas City. Sprang also states the figures originated from Detective Comics (DC, 1937 series) #78 (August 1943). The story from issue 78 was prepared by Sprang and Kressy in 1941 and stockpiled in case that Bob Kane was drafted for the Second World War. These figures would be reused in Batman (DC, 1940 series) #18 (August-September 1943) using just Kressy's layouts. Sprang finished the figures, giving them a slightly different pose and look.
