Crackdown on the Crime Exchange

Story featuring Batman

Storyline: After Batman fails to prevent a gold-coin theft and its perpetrators' escape, this proves to be the first in a wave of crimes carried out by highly specialised crooks. Realising an organisation must lie behind the crimewave, Batman embarks on a bold plan. Infiltrating the set-up - the Crime Exchange, an agency providing the right crook for the right crime - he allows himself to be captured so as to make contact with the Exchange's secret President. Claiming to be a reporter disguised as the Batman, he's given a test: pick up and fire a gun, something the REAL Batman has sworn never to do.

The Curse of the Ancient Weapons!

Story featuring Hawkman

Storyline: While overseeing delivery of a collection of antiquities as Carter Hall, Hawkman finds himself up against a stereotypical wizard (complete with conical hat decorated with stars and moons!). With the aid of his odd raven, and some spells in utterly ungrammatical Latin, the wizard makes off with a stone tablet of incantations - or, rather, his raven does. Carter realises that the wizard was an illusion, and the raven was the real sorcerer, and Shiera alerts him to the recent prison escape of their old foe, Konrad Kaslak. Using a "bird trick" of his own, Hawkman dupes Kaslak and defeats him.
