Storyline

Superman creates an alternate timeline where Superman Jr. and Batman Jr. can explore crimefighting without ramifications. In this timeline, the boys put an end to the mob boss of Sparta City, with some unexpected help.

Batman returns as featured co-star with this issue. The wives of Superman and Batman appear in this story, but their identities are not made clear. The Super-Sons appear in these issues: #216, 221-222, 224, 228, 230-231, 233, 238, making a final appearance in their own feature in #242. Their existence as computer simulations is first mentioned in The Superman Family (DC, 1974 series) #192 (November-December 1978), and their storyline is brought to a conclusion in World's Finest Comics (DC, 1941 series) #263 (June-July 1980). They later appeared in Elseworlds 80-Page Giant (DC, 1999 series) #1 (August 1999). An unrelated pair of imaginary stories appeared in World's Finest Comics #154 (December 1965) and #157 (May 1966) featuring the "Sons of Superman and Batman". Another unrelated pair of imaginary stories featuring a different Superman Jr. and Batman Jr. appeared in Action Comics (DC, 1938 series) #391 (August 1970) - #392 (September 1970).
