Storyline

Starbreaker arrive on Earth and easily defeats the League's most powerful members, which causes despair among the team. Hawkman gives them a pep talk that leads them to review the circumstances of their first case, which then inspires them to fight on.

Credits for script, pencils and inks confirmed from Julius Schwartz's editorial records, provided by DC Comics. Most of the story from issue #9 is retold here; some of it redrawn, some pages reprinted directly (15-26, 28 in this issue; from pages 6-17, 19 in the original). The story was changed slightly; for instance in the original the final creature was turned into a "pile of slivers and splinters" by Wonder Woman (Flash says "destroyed"), while in the updated story it was "planed down to its bare essence", still clearly intact.
