A journalist convinces the public that an amnesiac alien is a menace in order to make a better story. When the alien recovers, it says that it had come to share advanced technology with the humans, but it is disgusted by the journalist’s lies and the people’s violence and leaves.
Narrated in the first person. This story is divided into two parts: an untitled part one (6 pp) and part two—"Gruto!" (7 pp).
Against expert opinion, a engineer digs a mine to the centre of the Earth and finds dragons. He collapses the mine himself to allow his workers to escape. They say that the mine collapsed as warned to avoid panic, and silently remember the engineer's heroism
