Story Featuring The Haunted Tank

"Guarding the bridge against enemy attack is no job for a pintsize like your Stuart M-3, Jeb!"

Storyline

The new commander, a jingoistic southerner, is incensed at Jeb Stuart sharing the name of a Confederate general. He puts Jeb and his crew on errands that keep them out of combat, but they rescue the major when he loses most of the unit.

Sniper's Roost!

"This is the sniper -- his nickname in the battalion was the Hawk -- because of his sharp, perfect eyesight..."

Storyline

One soldier slowly works his way close enough to kill the sniper.

Tin Pot Listening Post!

"Listening post! This is Woody One!"

Storyline

A soldier at a forward outpost is terrified by every jungle sound, but manages to kill an attacker and fulfill his mission.

Broomstick Pilot!

"We can't keep up with the rest of the Forts!"

Storyline

The C.O. orders his pilots to fly at highest altitude. But Morgan, a former barnstormer, fulfills his mission and saves his crew by flying as low as possible.

Battle Window!

"We can't get along without windows!"

Storyline

Terry is sick of his job washing windows on a skyscraper. In combat he repeatedly needs to attack through windows.

Target for an Ammo Boy!

"They called him T.K. for short -- for Tank Killer!"

Storyline

The ammo boy encounters enemy tanks in every possible setting, but all he can do is load the bazooka. He commandeers a machine gun to shoot down an enemy airplane, which turns out to have been carrying a tank.
