Story Featuring The Haunted Tank
Saladino letters per Nick Caputo. Previous indexer credited Joe Kubert.
A German U-Boat commander and Jeb Stuart both share the same background of having their fathers killed in World War I.
Kubert pencils on page 5. As noted in the letters page of G.I. Combat # 139, Kubert penciled a few pages due to deadline problems.
Two soldiers who haven't seen combat must take out a mortar to protect troops advancing behind them.
A Confederate soldier's gun misfires on the 13th bullet after he had killed 12 Union soldiers. He in turn is killed by a Union soldier who takes the weapon. The first 12 bullets the Union soldier shoots kill 12 Confederates, but the 13th bullet proves unlucky again.
Fate brings the U-Boat and the Haunted Tank together for a battle on a beach.
Page 7 and 11 penciled by Kubert. As noted in the letters page of G.I Combat #139, Kubert worked on a few pages when deadline problems occurred.
