Indexer Bob Klein credited the cover inks to Bob Brown. Carl Gafford, via personal e-mail to Tony Rose, suggested Neal Adams was the actual inker, though it is not on his checklist at nealadams.com. Nick Caputo concurs with Gafford on Adams input but suggests he may have redrawn or altered some of the Challengers figures.

Seekeenakee - the Petrified Giant!

Story Featuring Challengers of the Unknown

"A primitive legend has come to life"

Storyline

The Challengers land on the Pacific’s Vaniki Island because its king has been out of touch. Islanders in war canoes “greet” them with machine guns and knockout-gas leis. The Challs are dumped down a sacrificial well. Prof blocks the exit with rocks and they float free. Prof tricks the Stone God into believing his island will be atom-bombed. Seekeenakee dashes home to protect his base. The Challs battle guards, saddle up, and air-drop a huge bomb down the stone god’s throat.
