From a discussion with Neal Adams in Denver, in 2017, about Lois Lane 79, this book could be Neal Adams' first Superman art which got published; per the On-sale date, this book came out after Superman's Girlfriend, Lois Lane 79, which also has a Neal Adams Superman cover and is technically the first published Superman piece.

The Annihilator wants to set up a secret identity like Superman, so he "adopts" Pocketbook Pete, a young hoodlum, who decides to use the Annihilator's Kryptonian chemicals to give himself super-powers also.
