Story Featuring Fantastic Four
"Have the Fantastic Four at last met their match when mighty Sub-Mariner and evil Doctor Doom team up?"
Dick Ayers confirmed to Nick Caputo that he inked this cover (GCD Error List 2 November 2006).
"It's the Human Torch!"
Doctor Doom presents himself to Sub-Mariner and offers him an alliance against the Fantastic Four and all mankind.
Inks credit from Sinnott's personal records. Primary inker Dick Ayers' signature appears at the bottom of page one splash panel. This story contains the first mention of the Yancy Street Gang.
"Eager for a parlay, Doctor Doom folds back the wings of his aerosub and noses it into the depths of the sea..."
Dr. Doom gives a "Grabber" to Sub-Mariner and Human Torch discovers that Invisible Girl hides a photo of the Sub-Mariner in a book.
"Wait! We've got to keep our tempers!"
The Sub-Mariner plants the "Grabber" in the Baxter Building and it is lifted into space by Doctor Doom.
"We're now thousands of feet above the city, and going higher!"
The Baxter Building is set on a collision course with the Sun and the Sub-Mariner discovers that Doctor Doom has betrayed him.
"It worked!"
Doctor Doom is flung out into space and the Baxter Building is returned to its foundation.
