Story Notes

Artist identification from chatgpt.com "The artist behind the famous Charles Atlas "Mac" advertisements, where a bully kicks sand in the face of a weaker man, was Joe Musial. Musial was a cartoonist for the advertising agency that handled the Charles Atlas campaign. These ads, often titled "The Insult That Made a Man Out of Mac", were created in the 1940s and became one of the most iconic fitness advertisements of all time. They depicted a scrawny young man getting humiliated at the beach, only to later bulk up using Charles Atlas’s Dynamic Tension program and return to get revenge."
