Red Ronin comes to New York City. This causes not only the Avengers to arrive on the scene but also S.H.I.E.L.D. led by Nick Fury aboard the old Behemoth helicarrier from the days when S.H.I.E.L.D. was trying to contain Godzilla. The Behemoth, Captain America, and Iron Man's attacks prove ineffective. Fury decides to feed the Behemoth's power to Iron Man and have him electrify the waters of the Hudson where Red Ronin is standing. It works and knocks the robot out. However since the pilot Dr. Cowan is unconscious, the robot revives and begins to act on its own and continues its rampage.
The pilot Dr. Cowan reveals why he is using Red Ronin. Afraid that America is destroying itself, he wants to attack Russia and start World War III so that Americans will unite against a common enemy. In one sequence, Yellowjacket and The Wasp enter Red Ronin but are blown out of its eyes by an internal gas dispersal fan. Wonder Man's off panel encounter with Red Ronin was featured in Tales of the Marvels: Wonder Years #1 (1995). The events of this battle and its aftermath are recounted in Avengers: Marvels Snapshots #1 (2021).
